Currently an English teacher at Greens Farms Academy in Westport, Kevin Coll has been an educator for thirty years. He has created and taught more than thirty English and writing electives; collaborated with colleagues from all departments to create team-taught interdisciplinary courses; founded and directed the Michael Cardin Writing Center; led curricular and pedagogical change as department chair, upper school head, and associate head; served as a mentor for dozens of colleagues; directed several professional learning communities; studied and written about the history of progressive education; published short stories and poems in journals and magazines; and won numerous awards, including The Charles H. Dietrich Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Transatlantic Review/Henfield Foundation Award for Fiction. For the past fifteen years, he has been especially interested in thinking about, talking about, and creating mindful, joyful, and equitable classrooms.
